Lemon Love: Junior Master Chef

It was interesting to see the varied range of dishes created using lemons. The presentation of the Master Chefs creations were fantastic. The judges were treated to attractive and appetising entries in this weeks competition. Congratulations to Jorja for winning this round with her 'mini lemon cheesecakes!

Junior Master Chef has been lots of fun and very delicious. Our first cook-off required the year 6 students to make a form of dough as the basis of their dish/meal. The judges were very impressed and enjoyed a range of sweet and savoury delights during the 'evaluation' lunch.

The judging table: congratulations to Helen and Bianca , first equal in this round of Room 12 Junior Master Chef.

(The Series Of Unfortunate Events) The Bad Beginning

Book 1

This book is a scary but moralistic story of three poor children called the Baudelaire's. But when their parents house was set on fire the poor children were left with a horrible man named Count Olaf who gave them jobs that were very challenging. As you read this story, some parts will be scary and some parts will be nice. I rate this book 8/10 because there are some parts that are a little bit hard to understand so the age would be good for a 8 +.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

The story takes place in a little village in India. A problem that the main character had was the whole village got ill. She had to go and stay with other people in the village because her mother and father passed away from the illness. An important part of the book was when the officers found her all alone in the room. Mary had to go and live with her mean uncle. She went to her uncles place,  on the train with her uncles housekeeper. Mary has been given a skipping rope. She loves skipping around the garden with her new skipping rope. She has become friends with Ben Weatherstaff and his little robin. The robin showed Mary the key to the secret garden that had once been her aunties garden. The next day the robin showed her the door covered in swinging ivy and the key that Mary had found fit the key hole. She slipped in throught the door and she weeded and took care of the garden. She got called into her uncles room and got permission to have the peice of earth she had hoped for.Dickon came and helped her with the garden and now it is all beautiful and she loves spending her day in the secret garden.I recommmend this book for the ages of 11 and up.
